The program includes three days of activities focused on poetry and the arts at the Uxío Novoneyra House-Museum in Parada do Courel.
The Festival dos Eidos celebrates its IX edition with poets Luz Pichel, André Tecedeiro, Brenda Alborada, and Isaac Xubín, who will be the main performers at the recital on Saturday, August 24th, in the courtyard of the poet’s house-museum in Courel. On Friday, August 23rd, Xabier Cordal will join Antón Reixa for the presentation of the poetic anthology *Enciclopedia Perplexidade* (Faktoría K, 2024). On Saturday morning, Antón Lopo and María Sánchez will present their poetry collections *Diarios 1/ Azul Monforte* (Noudelo e Ribón, 2023) and *Fuego la sed* (La Bella Varsovia, 2024) in a conversation at Souto da Rubial. On Sunday morning, August 25th, Nieves Neira will present the new edition by Chan da Pólvora of the book that gives the festival its name, *Os Eidos. Libro do Courel*, the core of Novoneyra’s work and the reason why hundreds of people return to the place where Novoneyra wrote the book that transformed Courel into a literary territory.
The program will open on Friday at 5 PM with an exhibition of the painting series “Romance de Manuel de Ribadaira” by Nicolás González Aller, inspired by the romance that Uxío Novoneyra dedicated to Federico García Lorca and a local resident, Manuel de Ribadaira, who was executed at the age of 21 in 1936.
Music will continue to enrich the festival space with concerts and performances by Familia Caamagno, the group Dúbida, O´Leo de Matamá, who will premiere their latest work *Verba Estirpe*, Iria Piñeiro and Mónica de Nut with their collaboration *Kennebec*, Fran Amil with *Popsía*, the multimedia show *Alta Montaña* by Iván Torres, and on Sunday, the festival will close with the “Literature Set to Music” performance by Fundación Legar.
As every year since the first edition, early on Saturday morning, there will be a bird-watching walk guided by ornithologist Xavier Vázquez Pumariño, focusing on the birds featured in Novoneyra’s poems. This edition also introduces a new route called “Architecture of Parada” interpreted by architect Xosé Allegue.
The Novoneyra Foundation recently received a special mention in the report “Keys and Impacts of Culture in Rural Areas: The Value of Intangibles” by the Ministry of Culture, where this festival is highlighted as a central element of its program. The report, which measures the impact of culture in rural areas, highlights the Uxío Novoneyra Foundation and the Agrocuir Festival among projects from across Spain for their social, economic, and demographic impact in the lands of Courel and the Ulloa region.
One of the new features of this IX edition is a shuttle service that will connect the village of Seoane with the hamlet of Parada to facilitate and ensure mobility to the festival activities.
The ninth edition of the Eidos program is supported by the Area of Culture of the Provincial Council of Lugo, the General Secretariat of Language of the Xunta de Galicia, and the “Afinidades Electivas” program of the Ministry of Culture. As in previous editions, the Festival dos Eidos is sponsored by Alhambra and Deleite, the wineries Martín Codax and Lodeiros, and the agri-food brands A Carqueixa, O Sabor dos Ancares, Torre de Nuñez, and Queixos Castelo.
